In partnership with District 102, Hold the Phone is excited to kick off our 2026 Tech Education Series! In an effort to build community through shared digital education, we look forward to bringing you events for both parents and kids.

January 28th - Emily Cherkin

Parent Event

Park Auditorium, 7pm - Free and open to the public

We will welcome nationally recognized author and speaker Emily Cherkin, MEd. Attendees will gain insight into:

  • Current statistics on children, education, and screen use

  • How executive function skills develop—and how screentime can impact them

  • The role of persuasive design in fueling screen-related conflict

  • Research-based recommendations for intentional, healthy screen use

  • Greater confidence in setting tech boundaries and norms at home

February 25th - “SCREENAGERS”

Park Auditorium, 6:30pm - Free and open to the public

We will screen an elementary school edition of the documentary “Screenagers” focused on elementary school kids, told from their POV.

Why Participate

To improve your habits, get more of your life back AND model healthy tech habits for your kids. (Don’t forget to tell them that you’re doing this challenge!)

how to participate

For each week, choose ONE task (from the easy, medium or tricky category) and try to accomplish it for the entire week. Then fill out the form at the end of the challenge. Recruit your friends to join you!
